Stephen Paddock

Stephen Craig Paddock (April 9, 1953 – October 1, 2017) was an American mass murderer responsible for the 2017 Las Vegas shooting, during which he fired into a crowd of approximately 22,000 concertgoers attending a country music festival on the Las Vegas Strip. The incident is the deadliest mass shooting by a lone gunman in United States history, with 58 fatalities (excluding Paddock) and 546 injuries. Paddock's motive for the shooting is unknown. He died in his hotel room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Paddock lived in Mesquite, Nevada (80 miles (130 km) from Las Vegas), and was a real-estate investor, property manager, retired accountant, and avid video poker gambler. 2Early years and education Paddock was born at Jane Lamb Hospital, in Clinton, Iowa. The family lived in Clinton at the time. He grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and Sun Valley, California, as the eldest of four sons of Benjamin Paddock.
