“I went on a date once and the guy asked me about my political beliefs. I told him knowing very well our beliefs were different. But instead of getting into a debate, I then asked him why he leaned away from the party I supported. When I meet people who have a different belief than myself I always ask people why. I will gain more from learning what they have to say then if I sit here and try and convince them they are wrong and I'm right. I think it's a lost cause in politics trying to convince the opposite party to agree with you. They never will. The way I see it, I'll either learn something new from you, or I will further affirm my own beliefs as to why I feel the way I do. There is no right and wrong. But there is respect you can show one another. And I think that's what makes this country great.”
