“A lot of indie music that I grew up with was very depressing but metal had lots of different expressions. But there are new metal bands where it almost became a fad to be damaged, depressed and sad. Your point about a wave of R&B and trap artists that are out right now singing about depressing stuff that does strike me as telling. It’s also following the trend of depression and suicide statistics.”
