Jason E. Chaffetz (/ˈtʃeɪfᵻts/; born March 26, 1967) is the U.S. representative for Utah's 3rd congressional district, first elected in 2008. He is a member of the Republican Party. He has been the chairman of the United States House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform since 2015. Some of his political positions include opposition to the Affordable Care Act, same-sex marriage, the scientific consensus on climate change, and privacy. He has expressed skepticism over mandatory vaccinations and pledged to hold hearings to determine their safety. He has been a vocal critic of the Obama administration's conduct in the 2012 Benghazi attack. He has also been critical of Planned Parenthood.
