George Lucas
George Walton Lucas Jr. (born May 14, 1944) is an American filmmaker and entrepreneur. Lucas is best known as the creator of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, as well as the founder of Lucasfilm and Industrial Light & Magic. He was the chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm, before selling it to The Walt Disney Company in 2012. Upon graduating from the University of Southern California in 1967, Lucas co-founded American Zoetrope with fellow filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. Lucas wrote and directed THX 1138 (1971), based on his earlier student short Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB, which was a critical success but a financial failure. His next work as a writer-director was the film American Graffiti (1973), inspired by his teen years in early 1960s Modesto, California, and produced through the newly founded Lucasfilm. The film was critically and commercially successful, and received five Academy Award nominations including Best Picture. Lucas' next film, an epic space opera titled Star Wars (1977), went through a troubled production process; however, it was a surprise hit, becoming the highest-grossing film at the time, as well as a winner of six Academy Awards and a cultural phenomenon. Following the first Star Wars film, Lucas produced and co-wrote the following installments in the trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983
Don't call me a mindless philosopher, you overweight glob of grease.
[griping about Tatooine] If there's a bright center to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from.
The Force is strong with this one.
In my experience, there's no such thing as luck.
Get in there, you big furry oaf! I don't care what you smell!
The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.
Wonderful girl. Either I'm going to kill her or I'm beginning to like her.
C-3PO: Is there anything I can do? Luke Skywalker: Not unless you can alter time, speed up the harvest or teleport me off this rock.
I would much rather have gone with Master Luke than stay here with you. I don't know what all this trouble is about, but I'm sure it must be your fault. [R2 beeps an angry response] You watch your language!
We seem to be made to suffer. It's our lot in life.
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
Use the Force, Luke.
The Force will be with you, always.
Wow, it's a really beautiful night tonight. It's a perfect night for horseback riding.
I just love listening to Wolfman. My Mom won't let me at home. Because he's a Negro. I think he's terrific.
[to a girl in a Studebaker] If you ever get tired of going steady with somebody that ain't around, I'm up for grabs.
Girls don't pay—guys pay!
Curt Henderson: You know Toby Juarez? Toby Juarez, he's a Pharaoh, isn't he? Joe: Toby Juarez? Sure, we know Toby. We killed him last night. Tied him to a car and dragged him.
[to Debbie] Hello. Buenos noches. You sure you don't need a lift somewhere? Huh? Hey, you know John Milner? John Milner's a good friend of mine. Hey, did anybody ever tell you that you look just like Connie Stevens?
