Dreams mean everything. They’re the stories we tell ourselves of what could be, who we could become.

Jonathan "Jonah" Nolan (born 1976) is an English-American screenwriter, television producer, director and author. He is the creator of the science fiction television series Person of Interest (2011–2016) and co-creator of Westworld (2016–present). He has collaborated on several films with his brother, director Christopher Nolan, who adapted Jonathan's short story "Memento Mori" (2001) into the film Memento (2000). Together, they co-wrote the mystery thriller The Prestige (2006), the superhero films The Dark Knight (2008) and The Dark Knight Rises (2012), and the epic science fiction film Interstellar (2014). 2Early life Nolan was raised in London and Chicago, and attended Georgetown University, where he majored in English and was a staff writer for The Hoya. 2Career Nolan's short story "Memento Mori" was used by his older brother, director Christopher Nolan, as the basis for the film Memento. Although Jonathan received a "based on a story by" credit, not a screenwriting credit, the brothers shared a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay as the film was released before the story was published. In 2005, Jonathan and Christopher co-wrote the screenplay for The Prestige, which is based on Christopher Priest's novel of the same title. The brothers collaborated on the screenplay for the 2008 film The Dark Knight. The film went on to become the most financially successful Batman film, which has since been surpassed by its sequel, The Dark Knight Rise
You used to be beautiful. When this place started, I opened one of you up once. A million little perfect pieces. And then they changed you. Made you this sad, real mess. Flesh and bone, just like us. They said it would improve the park experience. But you know why they really did it? It was cheaper.…
Your mind is a walled garden. Even death cannot touch the flowers blooming there.
At first, I thought you and the others were gods. Then I realized you're just men. And I know men. You think I'm scared of death? I've done it a million times. I'm fucking great at it. How many times have you died? Because if you don't help me I'll kill you.
I read a theory once that the human intellect was like peacock feathers. Just an extravagant display intended to attract a mate. All or art, literature, a bit of Mozart, William Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and the Empire State Building—just an elaborate mating ritual.
You think I'm scared of death. I've done it a million times, and I'm fucking great at it. How many times have you died?
All my life, I've prided myself on being a survivor. But surviving is just another loop.
I have come to think of so much of consciousness as a burden, a weight, and we have spared them that.
I read a theory once that the human intellect was like peacock feathers. Just an extravagant display intended to attract a mate. All of art, literature, a bit of Mozart, William Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and the Empire State Building... Just an elaborate mating ritual.
I've been pretending my whole life. Pretending I don't mind, pretending I belong. My life's built on it. And it's a good life. It's a life I've always wanted. But then I came here and I get a glimpse for a second of a life in which I don't have to pretend. A life in which I can be truly alive. How…
All I want is to not look forward or back. I just wanna be in the moment I'm in.
I used to think this place was all about pandering to your baser instincts. Now I understand. It doesn’t cater to your lowest self, it reveals your deepest self. It shows you who you really are.
I’ve been pretending my whole life. Pretending I don’t mind, pretending I belong. My life’s built on it. And it’s a good life. It’s a life I’ve always wanted. But then I came here and I get a glimpse for a second of a life in which I don’t have to pretend. A life in which I can be truly alive. How…
I don’t wanna be in a story. All I want is to not look forward or back. I just wanna be… in the moment I’m in.
At first, I thought you and the others were gods. Then I realized you’re just men. And I know men. You think I’m scared of death? I’ve done it a million times. I’m fucking great at it. How many times have you died? Because if you don’t help me… I’ll kill you.
I read a theory once that the human intellect was like peacock feathers. Just an extravagant display intended to attract a mate. All of art, literature, a bit of Mozart, William Shakespeare, Michelangelo, and the Empire State Building. Just an elaborate mating ritual. Maybe it doesn’t matter that we…
Everything in this world is magic...except to the magician.
No matter how dirty the business, do it well.
We've managed to slip evolution's leash now, haven't we? We can cure any disease, keep even the weakest of us alive, and, you know, one fine day perhaps we shall even resurrect the dead. Call forth Lazarus from his cave. Do you know what that means? It means that we're done. That this is as good as…
Well, your mouth moves fast enough. How about your gun?
