A great storyteller is keenly attuned to his audience; he knows when to slow down for maximum suspense and when to speed up for comic effect.
Entrepreneurship is not fancy… Entrepreneurship is hard. It’s fighting fires, it’s failure after failure.
I deem almost everything else a micro failure. I believe that most people look at micro failures and make them bigger than they are. It’s a mindset. There’s always a way to come back if it didn’t kill you.
The reason why most people are mean is because deep down, they are probably not happy with themselves.
If you’re apologizing for who you are, maybe it’s because you realize you’re doing certain things that aren’t good, and maybe you should change that.
The reason why so many people fail, is because they are worried about what other people think of them.
Everyone reading this is so worried about their years, while continuing to waste their days. It’s all execution. You have to do. You have to move insanely fast in the micro and be insanely patient in the macro.
Through action comes vision and through vision comes action. It all just builds.
Do work. Do work. Do work.
Doing was always my best strategy. I built my vision through taking action. One day at a time. The hard work, the hustle and the grind.
When I was 14 or 15 I realized that I was never going to be the quarterback for the New York Jets. Instead I was going to buy them, and so that was my vision.
Content is king, but context is God.
Creating skillful native content has little to do with selling and a lot to do with skillful storytelling.
The thought that that is so many people’s work lives which will be the disproportionate percentage of how they live their lives breaks my heart. If I can get one person to be like, ‘Fuck, he’s right, like what the hell am I doing here?” Please do not waste the next five, ten, fifteen, twenty, thirty…
Listen—I lived twelve years of this and definitely at least nine. I just don’t understand why people relegate into losing mentality just thinking they can’t. You can’t because you want to be on the bowling team or softball and play video games. That’s why you can’t. There’s plenty of time to get…
Sunday night I’m like chomping. I’m like a fighter before a fight like in the dressing room, like I can’t, like I try to go to sleep early on Sunday ‘cause I can’t wait for Monday ‘cause I get to put my jersey on. This is not your grandpappy’s life. We have the internet. You can make shit happen.…
I’m blown away by people celebrating the end of the week like the weekend is your escape from the week, like your weekend is your reality.
Interviewer: Why do you hate Fridays so much? Gary Vaynerchuk: Because I hate people that live their lives for the weekend.
