You don't have a choice if you get hurt in this world, but you do have a say in who hurts you. I like my choices, I hope she likes hers.

Almost everyone is obsessed with leaving a mark upon the world. Bequeathing a legacy. Outlasting death. We all want to be remembered. I do, too. That's what bothers me most, is being another unremembered casualty in the ancient and inglorious war against disease.
What am I at war with? My cancer. And what is my cancer? My cancer is me. The tumors are made of me. They're made of me as surely as my brain and my heart are made of me.
I like this world. I like drinking champagne. I like not smoking. I like the sound of Dutch people speaking Dutch. And now...I don't even get a battle. I don't get a fight.
I believe humans have souls, and I believe in the conservation of souls. The oblivion fear is something else, fear that I won't be able to give anything in exchange for my life.
That's God, I think, the rising sun, and the light is too bright and her eyes are losing but they aren't lost. I don't believe we return to haunt or comfort the living or anything, but I think something becomes of us.
I'm in love with you, and I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things.
All salvation is temporary.
You're beautiful. I enjoy looking at beautiful people, and I decided a while ago not to deny myself the simpler pleasures of existence.
I fear oblivion. I fear it like the proverbial blind man who's afraid of the dark.
It would be a privilege to have my heart broken by you.
Maybe okay will be our always.
That’s the thing about pain, it demands to be felt.
Grief does not change you...It reveals you.
My thoughts are stars I cannot fathom into constellations.
