Chuck McGill
Charles Lindbergh "Chuck" McGill, Jr., is a fictional character who appears in the crime drama television series Better Call Saul, a spin-off prequel of Breaking Bad. He is portrayed by Michael McKean, and was created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. Chuck was born in Cicero, Illinois and is the eldest son of Ruth McGill and Charles McGill Sr. He is the brother of fellow lawyer and titular character Jimmy McGill. Chuck is a successful attorney, who runs his own law firm with fellow attorney Howard Hamlin, called Hamlin, Hamlin and McGill (HHM). Chuck has become semi-reclusive and believes that he suffers from electromagnetic hypersensitivity. He was divorced from his wife, Rebecca Bois, a few years before the events of Better Call Saul. The death of Chuck serves as a catalyst for Jimmy's further transformation into Saul Goodman in season four, and Jimmy's entrance into the criminal world puts a strain on his relationship with Kim and his future as a lawyer. Chuck's death also deeply affects Kim and Howard, who are at odds in a legal battle. 2Character biography Chuck was born and raised in Cicero, Illinoi
I know you. I know what you were, what you are. People don't change.
Confidence is good. Facts on your side, better. Know what you're walking into.
Jimmy McGill: You are such an asshole. Chuck McGill: Why? For pointing out that her one mistake was believing in you?
See, that's your problem, Jimmy. Thinking that the ends justify the means. And you're forever shocked when it all blows up in your face.
My brother is not a bad person. He has a good heart. It's just he can't help himself. And everyone's left picking up the pieces.
'Perspective.' You want perspective? I'll give you mine. You're my brother, and I love you, but you're like an alcoholic who refuses to admit he's got a problem. Now someone's given you the keys to the school bus and I am not going to let you drive it off a cliff.
No crime is complete without the cover-up.
Facts are facts.
Hey, you and Mozart, huh? You both started young.
My evidence? My evidence is knowing my brother for his entire life.
This is an opportunity. That's why I'm doing this, not to punish you. To show you – truly show you – that you have to make a change before it's too late. Before you destroy yourself, or someone else. And I believe you can change. You'll find your path. And when you're ready, I will be there to help…
I have to believe that you'll face those consequences and you'll come out the other side a better man.
I don't doubt that your emotions are real. But what's the point of all the sad faces and the gnashing of teeth? If you're not going to change your behavior...
I don't want to hurt your feelings. But the truth is, you've never mattered all that much to me.
This is what you do. You hurt people over and over and over, and then there's this show of remorse.
