James Bond
The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. Since Fleming's death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorised Bond novels or novelizations: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz. The latest novel is Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, published in September 2015. Additionally Charlie Higson wrote a series on a young James Bond, and Kate Westbrook wrote three novels based on the diaries of a recurring series character, Moneypenny. The character has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip, video games and film. The films are the longest continually running film series of all time and have grossed over $7.040 billion in total, making it the fourth-highest-grossing film series to date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. As of 2018, there have been twenty-four films in the Eon Productions series. The most recent Bond film, Spectre (2015), stars Daniel Craig in his fourth portrayal of Bond; he is the sixth actor to play Bond in the Eon series. There have also been two independent productions of Bond films: Casino Royale (a 1967 spoof) and Never Say Never Again (a 1983 remake of an earlier Eon-produced film, Thunderball
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?
Bond: No. It would have proved that she's guilty, not that he's innocent. It could have been a double blind. Keep sweating him. [pause] M: You don't trust anyone, do you, James? Bond: No.
Bond: It's just that not so long ago, I would have described your feelings towards me as, um...well, I'm trying to think of a better word than 'loathing'. Vesper: I'm afraid I'm a complicated woman. Bond: That is something to be afraid of.
Vesper Lynd: It doesn't bother you, killing those people? Bond: I wouldn't be very good at my job if it did.
Bond: Vodka martini. Bartender: Shaken or stirred? Bond: Do I look like I give a damn?
True. But this one overcompensates by wearing slightly masculine clothing. Being more aggressive than her female colleagues. Which gives her a somewhat prickly demeanor, and ironically enough, makes it less likely for her to be accepted and promoted by her male superiors, who mistake her…
[Vesper Lynd sits opposite James Bond on the train to Montenegro] Vesper Lynd: I'm the money. James Bond: Every penny of it.
Bond: Well, I understand double-0's have a very short life expectancy, so your mistake will be short-lived. M: Bond, this may be too much for a blunt instrument to understand, but arrogance and self-awareness seldom go hand-in-hand. Bond: So you want me to be half-monk, half-hitman?
[A bartender comes to the poker table to take drink orders.] Bond: Dry martini. Bartender: Oui, monsieur. Bond: Wait. Three measures of Gordon's gin, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet. Shake until it's ice cold and add a thin slice of lemon peel.
You do what I do long enough, there won't be any soul left to salvage.
Vesper: I'm afraid I'm a complicated woman. Bond: That is something to be afraid of.
Camille: How much did he want? James Bond: He wanted you, but I left the car as collateral. He'll get much more when he sells us out.
M: This is about trust. You said you weren't motivated by revenge. James Bond: I am motivated by my duty. M: No... I think you're so blinded by inconsolable rage that you don't care who you hurt. When you can't tell your friends from your enemies, it's time to go.
They say you're judged by the strength of your enemies.
M: If you could avoid killing every possible lead, it would be deeply appreciated. James Bond: Yes, ma'am. I'll do my best.
You know, I was just wondering what South America would look like if nobody gave a damn about coke or communism. It always impressed me the way you boys carved this place up.
Take a deep breath. You only have one shot. Make it count.
I don't think the dead care about vengeance.
