Robert Zemeckis
Robert Lee Zemeckis (born May 14, 1952) is an American filmmaker and screenwriter frequently credited as an innovator in visual effects. He first came to public attention in the 1980s as the director of Romancing the Stone (1984) and the science-fiction comedy Back to the Future film trilogy, as well as the live-action/animated comedy Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988). In the 1990s he diversified into more dramatic fare, including 1994's Forrest Gump, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Director. The films he has directed have ranged across a wide variety of genres, for both adults and families. His films are characterized by an interest in state-of-the-art special effects, including the early use of the insertion of computer graphics into live-action footage in Back to the Future Part II (1989), and in Forrest Gump and the pioneering performance capture techniques seen in The Polar Express (2004), Beowulf (2007) and A Christmas Carol (2009). Though Zemeckis has often been pigeonholed as a director interested only in effects, his work has been defended by several critics, including David Thomson, who wrote that "No other contemporary director has used special effects to more dramatic and narrative purpose." 2Biography 3Early life (1952–69) Zemeckis was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Rosa (née Nespeca) and Alphonse Zemeckis. I'm light as a feather! Merry as a schoolboy!
Fred: A Merry Christmas to you, uncle! Ebenezer Scrooge: Bah! Humbug... What reason have you to be merry? You're poor enough. Fred: What reason have you to be so dismal? You're rich enough. Ebenezer Scrooge: BAH! Humbug!
Ghost of the Future, I fear you more than any specter I have seen.
[to Marley's ghost] There's more gravy about you than grave.
[catching Bob applauding to Fred's speech] Let me hear one word out of you, Cratchit, and you can keep Christmas by losing your position!
[upon viewing Marley in casket] Yes, quite dead. As a doornail.
Fred: Don't be cross, Uncle! Ebenezer Scrooge: What else can I be when I live in such a world of fools as this? Merry Christmas! Out upon merry Christmas! What's Christmas time to you but a time for paying bills without money; a time for finding yourself a year older, but not an hour richer; a time…
[from trailer] Ebenezer Scrooge: What do you want with me? Jacob Marley: You will be haunted by three spirits. Ebenezer Scrooge: I'd rather not.
George McFly: I've never picked a fight in my entire life. Marty McFly: Look, you're not gonna be picking a fight, Dad... Dad-Dad-Daddy-O.
If you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything.
[whilst with his girlfriend] What happens to us in the future? Do we become assholes or something?
Marty McFly: Hey, Doc, we better back up. We don't have enough road to get up to 88. Dr. Emmett Brown: Roads? Where we're going, we don't need roads.
Don't worry. As long as you hit that wire with the connecting hook at precisely 88 miles per hour, the instant the lightning strikes the tower... everything will be fine.
[in the past, Marty observes his dad's incompetence] Marty McFly: Jesus, George, it was a wonder I was even born.
One other thing. If you guys ever have kids, and one of them, when he's eight years old, accidentally sets fire to the living room rug...go easy on him.
Marty: Why do you keep calling me Calvin? Marty's Mom: That's your name isn't it? Its written all over your underwear. Oh, I guess they call you Cal, huh? Marty: No actually they call me Marty.
Marty: Give me a tab. Waiter: Tab? I can't give you a tab unless you order something. Marty: Alright give me a Pepsi free. Waiter: You want a Pepsi pal you're going to pay for it!
The bruise! The bruise on your head. I know how that happened you told me the whole story. You were hanging a clock and you were standing on a toilet and you fell. And that's when you came up with the idea for the Flux Capacitor, which is what makes time travel possible.
Then whose vice president, Jerry Louis!?
